The judiciary in Iraq
The Iraqi judicial system consists of several levels of courts:
Courts of First Instance and Investigation: First instance in most cases.
Courts of Appeal: Consider appeals against rulings.
Federal Court of Cassation: The highest judicial body in civil and criminal cases.
Federal Supreme Court: Interprets the constitution and adjudicates constitutional disputes.
The Iraqi judiciary enjoys independence under Article (19) of the Constitution, although challenges related to political influence and post-conflict circumstances exist.
