Types of divorce in Iraqi law
Iraqi law divides divorce into several types, the most prominent of which are:
Revocable divorce: A divorce in which the husband can take his wife back during the waiting period without a new contract.
Irrevocable divorce:
Minor irrevocable divorce: If the divorce occurs for the first or second time, and the wife cannot take her back except with a new contract and dowry.
Major irrevocable divorce: If the husband divorces his wife three times, she is no longer permissible for him until she legally marries another man and divorces him.
Judicial divorce: A divorce issued by a court based on a lawsuit filed by one of the spouses, usually the wife, for reasons recognized by law.
